LA INICIATIVA COLOMBIANA
THE COLOMBIAN INITIATIVE FOR FAIR, SUPPORTIVE AND SUSTAINABLE TRADE
We are an association and union body, with legal recognition, of private non-profit law. Our work is the representation, coordination, exchange and collaboration for the strengthening of associative and cooperative organizations of small producers in Colombia within the framework of Fair Trade, solidary and sustainable, which seeks to have an impact on agroecological production, trade, national and international policies and rules of Fair Trade; in the fields of defending the interests of small producers. As a result of the meeting, we formed a network of organizations of small producers, of a solidarity nature made up of approximately 8,000 families, producers of coffee, cocoa and bananas in the country.
La Iniciativa Colombiana born in Pitalito Huila on September 26 and 27, 2009 as a result of the meeting of farmer leaders, with the aim of discussing common problems and finding shared solutions that benefit all farmers, a national network is formed, whose purpose is to integrate, Debate, build and represent organizations of small coffee, banana and cocoa producers, under the principles of solidarity economy and fair trade.
